Accounts & signup
How do I create a MyroPay account?
Visit app.myropay.com or download our app. Click "Create account", enter your email and password, verify your email with the OTP code we send, and you're in. The whole process takes under 2 minutes.
Is MyroPay available in my country?
MyroPay is available to users in 50+ countries. We currently offer full functionality in Nigeria, Ghana, Kenya, South Africa, UK, USA, and Canada. More countries are being added regularly. Check our country availability page for the full list.
Can I have both a personal and a business account?
Yes. Personal accounts are at app.myropay.com and business accounts are at business.myropay.com. They are separate products with separate logins, though they share infrastructure for transfers between users.
What documents do I need to verify my account?
For basic KYC you'll need a government-issued ID (passport, national ID, or driver's licence) and a selfie. Enhanced KYC for higher limits may require proof of address (utility bill or bank statement less than 3 months old).
Can I close my account?
Yes. Go to Settings → Security → Close account. You'll need to withdraw any remaining balance first. Account data is retained for 7 years as required by financial regulations, then permanently deleted.
Transfers & payments
How long do transfers take?
MyroPay-to-MyroPay transfers are instant. Bank transfers typically arrive within 30 minutes domestically and 1–3 business days internationally (SWIFT). We're working on expanding instant international coverage through our partnership network.
What is Myrotag?
Myrotag is your unique @username (e.g. @john_adeyemi). Other MyroPay users can send money to your tag without needing your account number. It's like a payment handle — just like a Twitter username but for money. You can share it anywhere.
What are the transfer limits?
Unverified accounts: $100/day. Basic KYC: $1,000/day, $5,000/month. Enhanced KYC: $10,000/day, $50,000/month. Business accounts have higher limits post-KYB approval. See our pricing page for full details.
Can I receive international payments?
Yes. Your MyroPay wallet has a virtual account number (where available) that can receive international wires. You can also share your Myrotag or a payment link — anyone globally can pay you with a card, regardless of whether they have a MyroPay account.
Fees & pricing
Is MyroPay free to use?
The Personal Free plan has no monthly fee. Transaction fees apply on bank withdrawals (1.5%, capped at $10) and FX conversions (0.5% spread). Transfers between MyroPay users are always free. See our pricing page for plan comparisons.
How does FX conversion work?
We use the live mid-market rate and add a 0.5% spread. You'll always see the exact amount you'll receive before confirming the conversion. This is significantly lower than traditional banks (which typically charge 2–5% in hidden spreads).
Are there any inactivity or hidden fees?
No. We never charge inactivity fees, maintenance fees, or surprise charges. Your balance is always yours, no matter how long you leave it. What you see is what you pay — that's our commitment to transparency.
Security & KYC
How is my money protected?
Your funds are held in segregated accounts at regulated partner banks — separate from MyroPay's operating accounts. We use 256-bit AES encryption, TLS 1.3, and are PCI DSS Level 1 certified. Our ML-powered fraud detection system monitors all transactions in real time.
What 2FA options are available?
We support TOTP authenticator apps (Google Authenticator, Authy, 1Password), email OTP, and WebAuthn biometric authentication (Face ID, Touch ID, fingerprint). We strongly recommend enabling TOTP or biometrics for the best security.
What is KYC and why do I need it?
KYC (Know Your Customer) is a regulatory requirement for financial services in every jurisdiction we operate in. It verifies your identity to prevent fraud, money laundering, and terrorist financing. The process takes about 2 minutes and unlocks higher transfer limits and more features.
Business features
What is KYB?
KYB (Know Your Business) verifies your company's legal identity. It's required to unlock live payment processing and higher transaction limits on business accounts. You'll need your certificate of incorporation, director ID, and proof of business address.
Can I invite team members?
Yes. Business accounts support role-based team access: Owner, Admin, Finance, Sales, and Viewer roles — each with granular permissions. Invite team members via email from your business dashboard. Available on Growth and Enterprise plans.
Does MyroPay integrate with my website or app?
Yes. Use our Checkout API and SDKs (JavaScript, PHP, Python, React) to embed payment processing in any website or app. Our hosted checkout page can also be used with zero code — just create a payment link and share it.
Developer API
Is there a sandbox environment?
Yes. All business accounts get test API keys (ck_test_*) that work against a full sandbox environment. No real money is processed. Test cards, webhooks, and simulated errors are all available. Switch to live keys after KYB approval.
What are the API rate limits?
Default limits: 300 requests/minute for general endpoints, 100/minute for checkout sessions, 20/minute for transfers and withdrawals. Higher limits are available on Growth and Enterprise plans. Rate limit headers are included in every response.
Are webhooks reliable?
Yes. We deliver webhooks with retry logic (5 attempts over 24 hours with exponential backoff), HMAC-SHA256 signatures for payload verification, and a full delivery log in your dashboard. You can also replay failed webhooks manually at any time.
